Good afternoon –
We’re still busy with construction on the Avenue and this weekend, there will be a road closure between 50 and 52 Streets so crews can complete deep utility work. Starting 7 p.m. October 13 until 5 a.m. October 16, 17 Avenue between 50 and 52 Street S.E. will be closed so crews can do deep utility work. Local traffic access will be maintained, and detours set up.
Crews will also be out pouring curbs and gutters on the south side of the Avenue between 33 and 36 Streets, installing catch basins between 41 and 45 Streets, and removing the roadway on the north side of 17 Avenue between 50 and 54 Streets.
Looking ahead crews will be prepping the parking stalls on the south side of 17 Avenue between 33 and 36 Streets, and installing catch basins and the road sub base along the north side of 17 Avenue between 37 and 41 Streets. On October 20 – 23: Northbound traffic at 36 Street S.E. will be detoured starting at 7 p.m. October 20 to October 23 so crews can do utility work in the intersection.
Work on the BRT bridges is continuing, and crews are working on the foundation for the bridge running over the Bow River, and soil placement west of Deerfoot Trail is nearing completion.
Don’t forget your favourite businesses on International Avenue are open during construction, so make sure to stop by. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to make 17 Avenue a great space for everyone. For more details on the work happening over the next few weeks please see the attached update.
