Target picks International Avenue as one of its first locations in Calgary

We’ll be sorry to see Zeller’s go to make way for the retail giant Target (5115 17 Avenue SE) in 2013. We are please however, Target picked International Avenue as a first introduction to the Calgary retail marketplace in 2013. It certainly is testament to the Avenue’s retail strength and vitality.

No Frills Opening April, 2012

We are pleased to announce the opening of No Frills (Loblaws) at 4501 17 Avenue SE. The site is pedestrian friendly and is built up close to the boulevard in keeping with the new vision for International Avenue.

BIG NEWS!

The long awaited award winning plan for International Avenue was kicked into high gear when Council approved GreenTRIP funding for the 17th Avenue SE transitway on November 14, 2011. See Media category for more info.

Arts Centre gets land

IAACC has been granted the right to the land by City Council on July 5, 2011 at the entrance of International Avenue (26 and 17 Ave SE) for a 1000 seat theatre . This now allows the group to begin fundraising.

Mural unveiled!

On October 18, 2011 The mural society unveiled to the public the sixth installment to the International Avenue Mural Series. This mural was painted by artist, Iman Omar and is dedicated to the Arabic Community in Calgary. Special thanks to the Alberta Community Initiatives Program for help with this project.
